Affects 1 product across 1 vendor.
A reference counting issue in the arm_smmu_iova_to_phys_hard() function of the Linux kernel's IOMMU (Input-Output Memory Management Unit) for ARM SMMU can lead to a refcount leak in specific error handling paths.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: iommu/arm-smmu: Fix arm_smmu_device refcount leak in address translation The reference counting issue happens in several exception handling paths of arm_smmu_iova_to_phys_hard(). When those error scenarios occur, the function forgets to decrease the refcount of "smmu" increased by arm_smmu_rpm_get(), causing a refcount leak. Fix this issue by jumping to "out" label when those error scenarios occur.
Source: NIST NVD / MITRE CVE Database
The vulnerability occurs in the arm_smmu_iova_to_phys_hard() function where the reference count of 'smmu' is not decremented after an error scenario, leading to a refcount leak. This issue is specific to the IOMMU implementation for ARM SMMU in the Linux kernel.
